OK, now I'm disgusted

I was about to go to sleep when I read something that has me so horrifed and outraged that I just need to calm down.

Steven Fulop is the grandchild of Holcause survivors. He is also the mayor of Jersey city.

Mr. Fulpo recently backed a measure that would require gun venors that wished to sell guns in his city to fill out a safety questionaire.

Based on this outrageous infringement on their rights to be total ass holes, a gun nut (Scott Bach, who heads the NRA affiliate group Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs) wondered how Fulop could support such a measure considering that Fulop's grandparents survived the Holocaust.

The clear implication is that if only those Jews (and Rom and gays and disabled) people had had some shotguns, none of them would have been murdered.

Too bad I don't knopw where this jerk lives, because I'd happily punch him in the face.

Mr. Fulop's response was a bit more measured:

If my grandparents had guns in their house when the Nazis came, my grandparents would be dead and I wouldn't be here. So that's probably the reality of the situation. But I don't think that you can equate religious persecution to a manipulation of the intent of the Second Amendment.

And I am beyond horrified at the ongoing trivilization of the systematic murder of 11 million people because a bunch of wackos in the county think that even forcing them to wait a milisecond before they buy an assault rifle is somehow the same thing.

politics, people who are jackasses
