Bones! The Hannah/Temperance Connection

Mar 30, 2011 19:19

So, Hannah. Obviously not too popular in the fandom. But let's take a step back, shall we? I think there was some important stuff that was brought up with Hannah. So first, who is Hannah?

1. She's very good at her job.

You don't become part of the White House press corp unless you're a very respected journalist.

2. She's brave - the story is more important than her safety.

That's apparent simply because she's a war correspondent. But even in DC, she goes after a story that causes her to become injured.

3. She's blunt.

She says what she means and she doesn't sugar coat it. Look at her interactions with Brennan for example.

4. She doesn't want children.

In fact, she's not sure she knows how to interact with them. Although, it turns out, she does fine with Parker.

5. She doesn't believe in the permanence of relationships.

It's more than not believing in marriage. She just doesn't think relationships last.

So, remind you of anyone.

Yeah. Brennan. Big time. Or should I say, the Brennan that was.

Because I think what Hannah's real function was, was to demonstrate what would have happened if Booth and Brennan had gotten together before now. They would have imploded.

I'm really only looking at this from a Brennan centric angle, but she wasn't ready for a relationship and if she had decided to try, they would have fallen apart. Hannah is a mirror for what would have happened.

Thoughts? Am I crazy?
