Danny Boy lyrics

I think the words to the song Ray and Shaz sang together in 3x05 might have just given us a major hint about how the show's going to end (emphasis mine):

'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide... )

As soon as they started singing, I realized this must be a big clue!

To me the key line is "You'll come and find the place where I am lying...and kneel and say an "Ave" there for me" It ties in with Keats' line about "unearthing" Gene and bringing him into the air.

I also think a HUGE line is "If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me" I think it's both about waiting until he's ready to cross over (so to speak) and also there is some connection to whatever Gene said to Bevan before Bevan started freaking out after he was shot. I think Gene told him he wasn't going to help him cross over or that he was going to give him to the devil or something. Gene didn't hold him like he's held the others (or like Keats heald the woman last week) He just left him untouched...

AND... my head explodes again...

I think one of the final scenes will involve someone (Alex and Molly probably, though I wish it'd be Sam) either visiting the field where they found Gene's body, or visiting his grave to lay flowers on it.

Ooh! I hadn't thought of that...that makes a lot of sense. Although I think Gene didn't hold him because he wasn't actually dying; just injured. Still, I really like the idea of him playing the "governor of the copper's limbo" card to put the fear of god into Bevan, though. >:)

Yup I noticed the lines too. They have to be significant.

My first thought was. Yup they are dead/dying. With the seeing stars too.

My second was the ghost cop and how finding him and who he is (Gene or whoever) will then lay him to rest/crossover.

Thats good thinking about Bevan. I hadn't thought of that one.

Someone else pointed out that Bevan seemed scared of Alex after Gene whispered to him, which I think is all kinds of interesting.

As I said to woothiswildcat, I reckon the finale will involve someone either visiting the field where they found Gene's body or his actual grave. An idea I've just had, though, is that they'll lay a single red rose on it in memory of him...which fits in not only with Operation Rose, but also with the "say an ave there for me" lyric: an "Ave" is an Ave Maria, aka, the Hail Mary, aka the main prayer in the Catholic rosary (ie, "rose-ary").

But Gene scared that guy when he told him the truth, I don't think they're in "copper's limbo" and Gene is the good guy.

People think way into things instead of just enjoying the show.

This scene made me shiver.
Seeing the whole of the lyrics makes it so much more creepy.

"if you change the title from "Danny Boy" to "Sammy Boy", then you've just about got my perfect ending for both series."

THIS.
