Keats.

After the huge success of the Sam Tyler poll i thought i'd ask another question that i've been very curious about. It was nice to get opinions and hear both sides. Yay for us being a nice friendly civilized comm!

So, my next question.
(Don't think about the actor, this is all about Jim as a character.)

I said loathe - but only because it's doing my head in trying to work out what he's all about. He's a good addition to the show, I think, but at the moment we're not really getting that many clues about who he really is and what he knows - and honestly? It's annoying me. I feel as if his storyline hasn't moved anywhere since episode 1, though maybe that will change with tonight's episode.

What's everyone's theory on Keats?

Well, in 3.02, Keats seems to recognize who Jeffrey Dahmer is when Alex mentions him, when Dahmer wasn't arrested until 1991 (and the rest of the squad obviously has no idea who Alex is talking about). So my guess is that he's from the future as well, although from what era is anyone's guess.

I didn't pick that up at the time. Interesting.

I've always got this 60s/70s vibe from him. With his costume and glasses, he sometimes looks like he's walked off the set of 'Mad Men.'

No, definitely not the only one! Everytime he walks into CID, I feel like he should be being followed by a pretty blonde secretary with pearls and a sweater set. :)

Well, maybe his costume research is lacking. ;)

But, no, I had to rewind it to confirm, but he definitely nods when Alex brings up Dahmer, so presumably he's familiar with 1991. I suppose it is possible that he's from the past and can travel to the future, but honestly I don't know how that would work within the series, and his sensibilities read so modern to me, so my guess is he's someone like Sam and Alex, who got sent to the past.

I noticed this too - the little nod they had between each other.
But there has been nothing else that links him to the future.
There was his speech in the hospital about being able to 'help' Alex...
It is starting to get a little frustrating not knowing what/who he is.
