[Death's berry drops down to the ground and she looks down at it, her eyes hollow and her expression blank. She's wobbling on her feet, and when she speaks, her voice is hoarse, raspy and dry. There's at least two days of bags under the young girl's eyes ( Read more... )

[Rachel hasn't even blinked, just walked out of her room into the common room, bearing a water-bottle and bag of chips.]

Hey, you should probably eat something. Remember what I said about this place having screwed up rules?

Eat?

But there's nothing here smaller than me to eat.

That's what eating is, right? I don't want to hurt people...

Not exactly, young lady.

[The bag of chips is opened, pressed into Death's hands, Rachel kneeling by her. Before reaching out to feel her forehead, like for a temperature.]

These are based on potatoes, something grown in the ground. You won't hurt anyone by eating them, so do so.

[OOC: Should we merge tags with Timothy above?]

[She takes one, looks at it curiously, and puts it into her mouth. It crunches, and she moves it around a bit, and swallows.

her forehead is very dry, and warm. it doesn't take an expert to realize if she didn't know how to eat, she wouldn't know to drink, either, and right now there's precious little water in her system to produce any kind of sweat or saliva]

It's sharp in my throat. Why will this help?

Because, young lady, you're hungry. And likely becoming more and more dehydrated too, and you're obviously not used to it.

[The bottle of water is unscrewed, Rachel holding it out for the other in one hand while reaching to feel for a pulse in her wrist with her other.]

You need to drink some water too, and drink it slowly or you're going to make yourself even more sick--and yes, this does apply to you, because if it didn't, you wouldn't be feeling this way.

I know it applies to me.

[She looks at the bottle for a moment, and puts her lips up to the hole in the top, spilling a little on herself, then tipping it back too much and choking on it]

I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I don't... I've never. Give me a little time. I can.

Take it slowly...Sip, or you're going to throw up.

[Despite the clipped tone, her voice is gentle at least. Pulse is normal, that's good...]

When have you last rested? Slept, laid down and closed your eyes and had dreams and all that shit?

[Watching her carefully with dark-blue eyes under a navy-blue hood.]

But... [She looks confused] I don't have to-

Oh.

[She takes another sip of the water, slower this time]

But Dream is not here.

Whether Dream is or not, you will have to sleep. Like it or not, you're obviously not what you were, or exactly the same. What you're feeling right now, is hunger, and dehydration from lack of food or water, most likely.

So, when did you last rest, and sleep, too? Because if you haven't, then no wonder you're not feeling well at all.

[She nods]

A-alright. [She takes another drink]

I think it likes this. It's making me feel good. [She takes another potato chip]

I don't understand.

Well, yes, if you're in a human body, you probably need to eat and drink, like a human, and you're going to need to sleep. To rest, like a human does.

Just...eat and drink slowly. Once you've gotten some food and at least 2 bottles of water in you, you're going to want to rest.

[She nods]

How do I sleep?

It's really easy, especially as exhausted as you're likely to be. First, finish this bag of chips, and drink some more water. I'll be right back.

[Heading to her room to get a food bar, back in 30 seconds or less.]

[She does, looking at each one curiously before putting it in her mouth, getting the hang of chewing. When Raven comes back, she's got the empty water bottle]

Am I meant to eat the husk?

[Rachel is back with another bottle of water, and a food-bar. Not gourmet cuisine, but it'll do the job.]

Nope, and I'm not sure if you could, you should anyways. It probably wouldn't taste very good. Once you've finished this bottle, and the food bar, we can get you ready to sleep. It'll help, although you should be feeling better a bit already.

[She sets it aside, and attacks the food bar a little bit more eagerly, catching on to the whole eating thing pretty quick]

I am. Thank you, um. What kind of a name are you? I'm Death.
