...I can't feel the deaths of people in other universes, as well as the suffering of those outside of the facility. If I had known, I would have told you that she was alive.

[He wants to smile in that sort of 'I'm sorry, I wish I knew' way, but instead, his expression is just that of apology.]

The pain that I was feeling was that of everyone in mourning. For those who are terminated, I feel their pain briefly, but it is easily overcome by everyone who is hurting from losing them.

[He sighs.]]

...Of course. I'm constantly feeling everyone's pain, although I don't always react to it. Some weeks it's just stronger than others due to a sort of overload of anguish.
