And then there were two?
Since we finished When a Snail Falls in Love, the question now is what drama to watch next. I think right now, the two front runners are Legend of the Condor Heroes or Ice Fantasy.
Legend of the Condor Heroes (50 episodes)
LOCH obviously stars China's Greatest Actor, Hu Ge, and cutesy Ariel Lin. She's so cute that the dubbing to make her sound "cuter" really isn't necessary. But, China.
Anyways, the obvious pros are:
* I like the story
* I like Ariel Lin
* I remember liking Hu Ge in this drama but then every subsequent drama I've seen him in he's been unbearable.
The cons are:
* Maybe my memory is just bad and Hu Ge is just as insufferable but I was willing to overlook that for Ariel Lin.
* Questionable video quality for this day and age
Ice Fantasy (62 episodes and there's a 16 episode sequel which I may or may not be compelled to watch)
Ice Fantasy stars William Feng (Palace, Prince of Lan Ling) and Ma Tianyu (Strange Hero) as princes from the ice tribe.
They're possibly at war with the fire tribe because ice and fire!
The fire tribe chick looks badass and I kind of like her based on pictures.
I'm going to make a guess and say that there's going to be some sort of romance between the badass fire chick and the prince that's not the main lead. And that's probably because the lead prince will be in love with his normal-haired bodyguard, who also looks badass.
So I'm thinking the pretty ice princes will be the damsels in distress and the badass women will save them. Maybe. I don't know anything about the actual plot except there are also mermaids. So there will most likely be underwater CGI!!!
And China threw a lot of money at the LOTR set design team for them to steal LOTR wigs and props to use in this drama. I don't have a blond Asian fetish, so the look is meh to me. They ought to really have thrown monies into investing in a pool, actor insurance for when they dunk them underwater, sound equipment, and proper CGI.
The dark horses are:
My Sassy Girl
Pros:
* Eddie Peng's fat face
* Mostly not dubbed, because modern drama
* Short-ish, at 20-ish episodes
Cons:
* Based on strangely popular Korean romantic-comedy(?) movie that had questionable characters
Love Me, If You Dare
Pros:
* Not dubbed
* Short-ish, at 20-ish episodes
Cons:
* Had just finished watching similar-seeming When a Snail Falls in Love
* Can't take another serious drama at the moment
Murphy's Law of Love
Pros:
* A very standard Taiwanese romantic-comedy
* Short-ish, at 19 90-minute episodes.
Cons:
* I don't know anything about it
* Taiwanese romantic-comedy tends to be super cliche.
* I haven't downloaded it yet.
