He smiled down at Becky and ruffled her hair a bit. It was good to know that she was okay and that she was coming back to HQ with them. Make no mistake, Macon was a bastard, but he had a soft spot in Becky. She was like a sister to him, and those Stingrays would pay for hurting her. When she asked about the items, he looked around him to make

He nodded when she told him how she ran away. True, Zappers didn’t run away, but she was smaller than everyone else. It was better for her to have run then to have gotten hurt worse than she was now. He always worried about her when she was off alone; when no one was around to make sure she was safe. “You did the right thing, kid. It was right to run away. When you are out numbered that much, you could end up.. well seriously hurt or even dead. I don’t want to ever see you are a corpse. I’m glad that you didn’t get too seriously hurt. I’m glad that I could bring you back home. “
Macon got up from the table, and moved to where Becky was sitting. He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her trying to comfort the tears away. She meant the world to him, the only family he really had in the world anymore. He couldn’t bare anything happening to her. “It’s okay, Becky. I understand and I’m not disappointed. In fact, I’m proud that you knew when to walk away. That’s the greatest lesson someone can learn.”

But as Macon hugged her tightly, she let the tears pour even more and she sobbed into him. "I'm a baby! I don't deserve to be a Zapper!" She listened to him talk and how he wasn't upset. Becky lifted her head up and looked at him. "You're proud? Really?" She smiled and hugged him tightly. "Thanks Macon." She paused. "Can I go into Paradise? PLease?" She loved it inside the helmet and she knew she'd be bored since Macon refused to let her continue to look for the items.

When she looked up at him, he smiled at her encouragingly. “Of course I am proud of you!” He hugged her back, and brushed the tears from her eyes. Normally, he wouldn’t have let her use the helmet as she wasn’t going to be, but today was different. She had been through so much lately and he knew that she needed some comfort. He nodded at her and shrugged. “I guess you could for a bit, but not for too long. You don’t want to get addicted. “ In truth, he had a lot he needed to get back too. Mainly, he had to find Jordan before the Mallrats did. At least if he found him, he could show the city that the could take care of their own trash.

She bounced up and down as he said she could use the helmet. He was always so worried she'd get addicted. "I won't get addicted Macon. I'm not crazy like those other kids. I like it in there. Everything's perfect." She hugged him once again. She used the helmet when she had bad dreams and then remembered before the virus when her mom would tell her stories. In a way, the helmet was like a Bed time story, only better. Had Macon ever had a bed time sotry told to him? She hugged him tightly, suddenly feeling very sleepy.
