BATMAN
saw a late night showing over the weekend at the azrieli center, didn't get out of the theater until almost 4 am (just like back home!). and then appropriately roamed the streets for awhile and discussed the merits as to what makes a great anti-hero. and the conclusion we came to, was that batman without a doubt still exemplifies all of the virtues and faults that are all embedded within us. meaning, batman is still the coolest superhero that there has ever been. anyway, here's the breakdown.
- christian bale is a great bruce wayne, and a very good batman. transplant michael keaton as batman, and keep bale as bruce wayne. that would be your flawless batman character.
- not sure who's idea it was to have batman sound like he's clint eastwood with lung cancer. that was kinda odd. but very funny.
- props for not swaying too far from frank miller's original 'dark knight returns' aesthetic.
- need to get my hands on 'the long halloween' and 'hush'.
(these are spoilers! sorta)
- i wish they would've kept harvey/two face around for a sequel.
- heath ledger will be truly missed.
- terror is terror no matter what the ideology behind it or lack thereof is. there is no justification for the targeting of innocent civilians under any circumstances. ever.
