Bottled Truth

Many travel guides advocate drinking only bottled water when travelling, but planetgreen.discovery.com begs to differ.

It points out that bottled water is more expensive per gallon than gasoline, incurs a huge carbon footprint from its transportation and clogs landfills.

It recommends taking your own re-usable water bottle on your next trip. Then, since boiling is considered the most effective way to kill microorganisms in the water, use your hotel room kettle.

Be sure to get the water to boiling point and then let it continue at a rolling boil for at least one minute. Let it cool. If you do this each night, you can let the water cool overnight, and you'll wake up to your day's supply of drinking water.
