Teen in court on murder charge
A 15-year-old Hamilton youth has been remanded in custody after appeared in court charged with murder.
The teenager is accused of killing another 15-year-old boy who police say was stabbed.
His body was found on Wednesday evening outside the Badminton Hall in Hamilton East.
The accused appeared briefly in the Hamilton Youth Court and is due to reappear on Friday. He will spend the night in a police cell after the court heard no beds are available at Child, Youth and Family facilities.
I live a block away from the Badminton Hall. The kid that died? Lived across the street. I didn't know him or anything, but that's the closest to home any major crime has been to me. Dad told me about it when I got home from pandoras_evil_t's last night. The police were by earlier today conducting their investigation, but of course I didn't really have anything useful.
