Finally figured out this whole LJ cut business. Whew.
Today I bought my new shoes. It's still Nike, and it was $97 after discount. Whew. But my mum paid so I don't get the $3 from the $100 my dad said he'd give me. Haha. Dang. I'm still so broke. Anyway, it's a pretty nice pair of shoes and I do plan to wear it for as long as I can so I guess $97 isn't that bad, right?
Went to Kinokuniya and ended up not buying any books for myself. I couldn't find How Green Was My Valley and decided that if I really wanted to read A Beautiful Mind, I'd borrow it from the library or something instead of buying it because it looked so thick and it was something I'd definitely not read again. Was tempted to buy another Stephen E. Ambrose book (Band of Brothers was fantastic), like D-Day or Citizen Soldiers or something but in the end decided not to. I'll keep my love for BoB. Haha.
Had pasta for dinner. Yummy, I'm so in love with it and I can never understand why.
My mum rented Head In The Clouds for me. Wonderful woman. Now I get to watch Stuart Townsend the movie. And Khine's probably coming on Monday so we can watch it together. Yay! My mum commented that Stuart Townsend looks a little like Jude Law and I was like, "Great! Khine can have Jude and I get to keep Stuart." How brilliant is that? Heehee...
This morning I watched Phantom of the Opera. Not the musical version, but the 1943 film version, starring Susanna Foster and Nelson Eddy. I have never heard of the 2 of them, but Susanna Foster was so beautiful in that film. The movie didn't exactly spark any emotions in me, other than amusement at seeing Raoul and Anatole fight for Christine's attention. Perhaps because it's pretty different from the book. You don't feel sorry for the Phantom at all, in fact you just think he's a freakin' psycho and should snuff it ASAP. Raoul is much better in this version because he's not some wimpy girlish loser. He's a brave and intelligent police inspector. And then there's the added character of Anatole, a baritone in the opera, who also likes Christine. That was pretty nice, though I see how it wouldn't have fit into the original.
Unfortunately, while Raoul's character was very much improved, his looks went backwards. He had a really silly little moustache. Darn the guys in the olden days! They either have ridiculous sideburns that make them look like Ape-man or stupid moustaches which creates the same effect as having the words "POMPOUS GIT" tattooed on their foreheads.
Overall, I had a good day today. Yay!
