I found this poem in the back of my diary from 1996. There are crossings out and corrections so I think I wrote it, but if I didn't will someone let me know? If I did write it I am deeply impressed with 18 year old Lisa.
Untitled and not dated...
And when all my day has given
One thought to be the last of death
That's when my soul shall ascend to heaven
That's when the reaper shall steal my breath
But, oh what joys the world has wrought
And oh what pain with us she doth enslave
But knowing that pain has brought
The ending to life, my life, that day.
I shall no longer hear the murmers of lovers
I shall no longer feel the rain
I shall forever hover over
A paradise to be free again.
The reason I think I wrote it was because there is a verse after the last one crossed out and words added. And the shaky second verse. Was I deeply inspired by Emily Bronte and Emily Dickinson? I think so.
