Wow, so I haven't updated in five months. I don't have time. I actually had intentions to write every day again once I started City Year since I knew it would be a crazy experience and I'll never remember everything. But that idea went out the window pretty quickly. I work 50 hours a week, I have after-hours meetings sometimes (I'm on City Year's version of a newspaper/yearbook committee), and I try to have a life. By the time I get home on the weekdays all I want to do is have dinner and pass out. The only reason I'm here now is because I'm sick and I don't have the energy to accomplish anything productive.

So City Year...has definitely been crazy already. It's been a roller-coaster ride of emotions since the beginning. There are a lot of things about the organization that really bother me. A LOT of things. But thankfully my students make me want to go to work. Yeah, you read that right. Ironically (for me), working with kids is the best part of my job. Two out of three of the classes I tutor are 6th graders and they're just adorable, and the kids in our after-school program are the best. And overall I love my team. They make work a lot more fun than if we didn't get all get along. I'm overworked, overtired, and underpaid, but I'm still glad I'm doing this.

I've also made good friends from work, and that's been good for me since my college friends are all spread out and I don't get to see them as often as I'd like.

Quick summary of my dating life: My hot ex-neighbor was in LA one weekend in early September after having moved to Chicago after graduation and we managed to run into each other. We hadn't talked since March so it was interesting to see him again. We hung out but nothing happened. It was good to get some closure on that situation. I had a little crush on an Indian guy but he was the roommate of another friend of mine whom I thought liked me, so that was too awkward for anything to happen. I haven't even seen my Indian friends in a couple of months. There's a really cute vegetarian Asian guy I've seen a couple of times but he's living in San Diego right now so I guess nothing's happening there. Um, I was dating two vegan guys with the same first name kind of at the same time. After several dates one of them asked me to be his girlfriend but I just wasn't that into him and I told him I didn't have time for a relationship, which is true. And as for right now...well, I'm not going to get into that in a public entry.

My briefest reflection on politics ever: Yay Obama; repeal Prop 8!

Life has been crazy, busy, and stressful, but also great. It's amazing how the time passes so quickly.
