Has anyone else realized...

With tomorrow's election being so close, no matter who wins, almost half of the country will be unhappy with the outcome? Is it still considered rule by majority, when the majority only beats out the minority by one or two percent? Could this be the decline of democracy?

of course its a decline of democracy.

the one consistent rule of all great empires is that all empires slowly rise, hit a peak of prosperity, and then rapidly crumble - always due to government corruption, wars and invasions, poor economy, civil unrest and upset, and most of all (and most important) and series of weak national leaders.

the two candidates that are running for the president today are both questionable and untrusted - what it has really come down to is which one do we fear less and who can appear less threatening to our national security and international safety. the fact that this is such a close race is a clear and concrete sign that the voting public is at a loss as to what to do with the impending decline of our country. Mr. Bush did not do the best job running this country - otherwise the nation would not be questioning him now, the deficit and economy would not be as pathetic as it is now, and I, personally, would have health care. Mr Kerry, being our only other (likely and possible) option to Mr Bush, has done well but clearly he is lacking something that the voting public really is looking for in a leader. What that one thing is, how ever, is a mystery since the last great president that we had was assassinated in the same state that our current president is from. As Hunter S. Thompson said, “The Ghost of John Kennedy will forever haunt the halls of the White House, shaking his head and looking for Marilyn Monroe, and will forever be chased by bullets coming from the same government that he lead so many years ago.”

Hunter S. Thompson wrote a book called “Better than Sex: the Confessions of a Political Junkie” in 1991 during the first Clinton campaign. I suggest you read it. It’s terrifying.
