Is there a particular word or phrase that offends you regardless of context?
Inspired by listening to a segment on NPR about the whole Harry Reid debacle and wondering what it is about certain words (e.g. "Negro") that has the power to offend, and why. I can't think of any words that I feel directly offended by, but there are some words that I'm offended by because I know they're considered offensive toward other people. Then again, I'm also not really a member of any minority groups, except maybe women, and most of the derogatory words for women (bitch, slut, etc.) have been pretty much stripped of their more offensive meaning over the past couple decades.
