spent a lot of today trying to register for fall classes. i only managed to actually register for one class, but the basic futility of the whole business was at least somewhat compensated for by the wealth of academic information that i obtained in the process.
for instance, i found out that, until someone can conclusively prove otherwise, i will need to meet both the old and the new set of urban studies requirements in order to graduate. no one, it seems, knows exactly what either of those sets of requirements actually entails, nor to whom they might apply.
additionally, as it turns out, at least one of the (required) classes i'd been planning to try to take next semester doesn't actually exist, contrary to what any silly official university website might tell you. other classes which don't exist (and never did) apparently include one or two that i have already taken (the one more likely to exist, which may or may not be or have been required at some point, lies somehow outside the newly constructed sphere of urban studies, making it impossible to fit into the new requirements).
the upshot of all of this is that i have a headache, and will somehow have to find some opportunity within my full-time work schedule to go back to school and stumble between offices like a chicken with its head cut off until someone, somewhere, can tell me what i am actually doing.
