Hello, Livejournal, how long has it been since I haven't posted here ? 8 months ?
That's a long interruption, even for me. I guess I should blame Twitter ? Everybody does, anyway.
So what has been going on in my life recently ?
Last month, I went for a vacation in Italy : I visited Florence, Bologna (shortly), Rome and Naples. It was pretty great and I took lots of pictures which you can see on my flickr.
But since there is a lot of them, here's a short selection :
In Florence, the weather was gray and rainy almost all the tim I was there.
I think this was in convent San Marco.
I arrived in Florence just in time for the Epiphany parade. This is one the three kings.
I also made some videos : here are the kings
And check this flag-flinging action !
This guy had the most badass banner of the whole parade.
I don't know about you, but I find horse and hawks much cooler than horses and hounds...
...and girls with bows much more badass than girls with guns. But maybe that's just me.
That's in Bologna. This courtyard is part of the university. The school of law, if memory serves.

In Rome, I learned among other things that if this statue of the she-wolf was from the 5th century, the babies were only added in the 15th century.
The saddest lion (Capitoline museum, Rome)

I hope there'll be something as nice as this written on my tombstone.
The vesuvius was nice enough not to enter in eruption while I was in Naples.
In the archeological museum. These satues are from the famous villa of the Papyri.
This protrait is from Pompeii, but I was always struck by how modern it looks, if that makes any sense.

Part of the Temple of Isis in Pompeii. Built in bricks and then covered in a layer of stucco to make it look like stone.
Visiting Herculaneum was like being on the set of "SPQR Blues". This house has an unusual entryway...
...and this bakeshop belonged to one Sextus Patulicius Felix, known by some as "Lucky Sextus".
