Impulsive, meet Rational
Been: Tired. Working. Entertaining. Traveling. Working. Tired. Working. The current situation is rather uninspiring, but at least my skin has been looking pretty good. All I can think about is sleep right now but I've agreed to meet up after work with an old co-worker from the States who is consulting in the UK. It's his last night here so am pushing through the tired/crampy mixture of feelings.
The most simplest of things, such as writing in a journal, can be nearly impossible when you are just uninspired and tired. If only there were some safe 'uppers' one could purchase at the shop! Or, if only I could get my ass to bed at a reasonable hour. Doh! and fiddlesticks!
Well, despite the negative economy I have been FIGHTING the temptation of some RETAIL THERAPY. Now, this desire doesn't happen frequently but when it does, it's intense and absolutely crazy because when it happens I feel like I shouldn't have any cash, if I have cash, cash is to spend, SO SPEND IT. Then if I don\t give in to that whim and manage to hold on to my bit o'cash, then the desire to blow it on STUPID LITTLE THINGS. So far, I've managed to AVOID blowing my money on the following items; colourised rubber fish, a fake moustache kit, vegetable seeds and lip gloss (I already have 4 tubes).
My long time love/fascination with lava lamps has been reignited though so I've been perusing the internet looking for some authentic lava lamps by either Lava brand or Mathmos. The Mathmos ones are pretty nice but they have a very limited choice when it comes to lava colours. See www.mathmos.com I like the Lava Lite brand best as they (used to) produce many different colours though these don't seem to be as available in the UK as they are in the US. The other thing I've learned is that the black bases are no long produced, and this seems to be the case with BOTH brands. The silver looks tacky and cheap, I liked the black bases as it's neutral and compliments ANY colour lava. In the peak of my lava lamp history of ownership, I had 3 lava lamps plus a lava grande. So yes, I'm afraid of what this rekindling will mean for the space in the bedroom.
Bottom line, this money is burning a hole in my pocket! Why oh why must I be so self defeatist?!?!!? I should be SAVING every penny due to uncertainty for the months to come. OK, If I CAN do that, I am making a pact with myself to splurge on all the stupid shit I want later. Yeah sounds good to me. Agreed then? Yes, agreed!
