we got a button maker and a quiver full of janky arrows and now we're all set for the rev; last night i dreamed you were wearing the quiver and i was so upset because it was my turn. you dreamed you were telling me about a wallet you needed to find and a window in your closet door because even when we're sleeping we want to hang out. all the bees behind my house died or went away but next time it's going to be different and i will watch carefully for any sign of swarming or the dreaded wax moth and i'm not going to let this happen again because now i miss them and miss listening to them fanning the honey at night, miss the warmth on the inside of the house right where they lived. i find myself in sudden possession of a grocery bag full of dumpstered throat coat and a hand-me-down set of flannel sheets while the sun insists on shining and i'm too warm in sweaters. what the fuck, winter? soon i will be in a land of ports and not-quite-sleet icy rains, shaking my fists at the heavens and scuttling indoors for soynog and cuddling and friends and fires; when i come back my own comfortable rains will have settled in and there will be a constant whistling of tea kettles for the next four months. upon questioning, a friend in oaxaca says "march? what march? we were downtown all day and didn't see any march."
