Would that I soar alongside you
to see the sights you’ve witnessed alone
I’d find myself engulfed in your peril
With shadows eager, nay
Desperate to make their cause mine
Had you journeyed my trek
Long ago the wails, shrieks,
Whispers would crescendo
Beyond that cacophony which surrounds me now
To manifest their cries and tears as yours
The fire blazes on with no inkling
Of weakness, its velvet glow flares brighter
Behind tired eyes
If only radiance could attain your heights
Without its worry of blinding you
High cantos rave onward, upward
Spill their verses unto distant horizons
Perhaps one day their echoes will descend
‘Cross my path, yet
Lacking their chances of deafening me
Darkness pacifies thoughts of trying to reach
Voices manage not against what is heard
Silence averts gazes that might try to seek
No flight or exodus will ever evade
Understanding hidden in each other’s eyes
