"We think it was God's plan and we're going to have to pick up the pieces and keep going"
That, my friends, is a direct quote from a newspaper report about the school shooting that took place in Amish country in Pennsylvania. And I have a qualm. It's huge: WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? I'm sorry. I'm agnostic, and I try to believe in God. I believe there's a 'higher power', of sorts. I believe in heaven. I believe in these things because I think faith is important and I want to believe that myself and the people I love are somehow being protected, and that by being a good person - clean, moral, etc. - that when I die, my "soul" will be at peace. I don't believe in organized religion, because I think is a cult/crock of shit. It's thoughts like these, though (the quote above), that make me NOT believe in the traditional sense of the word "God", or make me wonder how these people can believe in the God that they believe in. God's plan was to have a crazy man shoot 10 little girls in a fucking Amish schoolhouse before shooting himself? Please explain that to me. I enjoy philosophical debate, and can generally see where many of the arguments for God come from. But I just don't see how anyone can defend that.
Anyway. Just had to get that out.
