Open up my eager eyes.

Yesterday we came, saw, and fuckin' conquered. We saw The Killers perform last night!

And believe me, taking on the adventure was our damn pleasure too.

To be honest though, if Meme wasn't in the passenger seat, I would have gotten lost in some way, somehow. The ride there wasn't that bad at all, especially while we were dressed to impress with the windows down and Head Automatica blasting.

Not long after we got there, Meme and I met up with JR, Erin, and company to get an great spot on the lawn, to the right with only about four other blankets in front of us. We all played Go Fish during Louis XVI's performance, but we all still got to hear the opening acts -- that band, plus Regina Spector, Kaiser Chiefs, and Keane -- do really well. Once again, I was impressed by Keane's ability to perform their songs perfectly live, and that feeling hit me especially when they performed "She Has No Time" and "This is the Last Time." (I must say this though -- no, this time I did not tear up.)

Now, the bad things about The Killers performing:
  • The four obnoxious high school guys that decided to obstruct Meme's and my view right before The Killers came on stage.
  • The guy in red touching everything, including the synthesizer...XD
  • Well, I would have liked to see Roxanne, at least say hi or something.
  • The girl on serious drugs shaking her ass to every song the band was performing.
  • They didn't perform "Believe Me Natalie", Meme's favorite song. I couldn't even believe the band chose to omit that song. Hearing "All These Things That I've Done" was bittersweet because we knew from the get-go that'd be the past song they'd perform in their set.

And of course, I can't forget about the good:
  • The earnestness of the drummer Vannucci. He was just awesome.
  • They announced they were going to perform a B-side, and Meme and I just squealed.
  • That B-side turned out to be "Under The Gun" -- a song only Meme and I (plus the band) seemed to know.
  • They also performed "Indie Rock and Roll" -- "... she plays the drums, I'm on tambourine..."
  • Flowers: Now, can I ask you a question? "... if the answer is no, can I change your mind?"
(later) ME: Wow, he can change my mind anytime...
MEME: ... now let's back up here! I would never say no in the first place!
  • Not being able to hear Flowers sing "Mr. Brightside" because everyone else was drowning him out. I expected that to happen, but seeing everyone yell along was still cute.
  • Everyone clapping in unison to "... I got soul, but I'm not a soldier."

I'll take my twist with a shout; a coffee shop with a cause, man I'll freak you out...

Meghan asked me to list six of my favorite songs and to tell six people to do the same. However, when she did this herself, she listed six songs that she had been listening to a lot recently. So, I'm doing this her way!
  1. "One of These Things First" -- Nick Drake
  2. "Please Please Please (Young Hollywood)/Tara Reid is a Whore" -- Head Automatica*
  3. "The Ballad of the Sin Eater" -- Ted Leo & The Pharmacists
  4. "Rock 'N' Roll Lies" -- Razorlight
  5. "Satellite" -- BT
  6. "Different" -- Acceptance

*But by mentioning this, I really mean that I'm listening to the whole album. I love it so much.

TOTAL VOLUME OF MUSIC:
678 songs, 1.9 days, 10.19 GB

LAST CD I BOUGHT:
OK Computer, Radiohead

SONG PLAYING RIGHT NOW: "The New Year" -- Death Cab for Cutie

FIVE SONGS I LISTEN TO A LOT / MEAN A LOT TO ME:
1. "Let Down" -- Radiohead
2. "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" -- The Postal Service
3. "Where Do We Go" -- Talib Kweli, Res
4. "My Heart is the Worst Kind of Weapon" -- Fall Out Boy
5. 'Hotel California" -- Eagles

A GENRE THAT IS GROSSLY MISREPRESENTED ON THESE LISTS IS:
Rap. My tastes in this genre are suddenly ol' school, but I would rather have it that way than to listen to some of the new stuff that's out today. However, I will never consider Talib Kweli ol' school till the day that he stops rhyming about politics, family life, and misrepresentation of status quo... which he'll never do. Jay-Z, Kanye West, Notorious B.I.G., and Lauryn Hill are other favorites.
R&B. Do any of you remember the days when Quddus hosted a R&B/soul countdown on MTV2? I used to know every song that he'd play on that thing...
"Popular" music. I love Ryan Cabrera. Enough said.

... anyone else up for it that isn't out of the country. I thought of Rumit immediately, but he's been in Greece since Friday... and then I thought of Meghan, but she's heading out to England.
