... and I want to be known for my hits, not just my misses; I took a shot and didn't even come close.
"I'VE GOT A DARK ALLEY AND A BAD IDEA...", FALL OUT BOY
An interview*, conducted by the wonderful Katherine (

- What are your plans for the future?
Today I was looking through my old SPAN201 notes, and I found all these compositions I wrote that answered the same question -- namely, one thing I had to do in my life to make it complete, and what I see for myself in ten years. All I could talk about was a life in journalism. I don't think I know any better, to hope that a career in the field will all work out in the end.
Still, I wander aimlessly. I dread the moment I have to commit to a minor/concentration, only two semesters away! I no longer picture myself being a journalism major, government and politics minor like the rest of them anymore. I guess this change of heart is unfortunate, because my moderate political affiliation would have ensured the absence of bias, or something like that.
- Do you find yourself displaying nitpicky qualities as a residual effect of high school journalism in the editing (and reading) of others work?
I'm a thousand times more picky now that I'm in college and done with JOUR100, the TSWE and ENGL101. I had to be slightly negligent for the paper because I couldn't find a way to state my reasons why this word should be here, why this sentence must be changed to that, etc. Thus, I had a hard time figuring out whether the problem was due to a legitimate reason or just my personal writing style. Now I have names for my reasons, which I have to figure is why I'm still in this "editor" position (only now for people on my floor, Sonya, and more, hah).
- Where do you want to live after college?
The only place where I can picture myself living, and not just visiting, is Los Angeles. I still remember my first summer there so well, and if I was there on my own, I probably wouldn't have left. Of course, I'll have to make time in my life for New York as well. How would The New York Times be able to deal otherwise? ... XD
- Have you ever had a dream for your future that you had to give up to do what was "expected"?
The only instance when I've been deterred away from something I really wanted to do... was in the fourth grade. I signed up for band that year, and so I had to fill out a form indicating which instrument I'd want to learn. I wanted to play either the saxophone or the drums. My parents told me that the flute was the best choice. I went along with it. In its case, the flute still collects dust underneath my bed. I haven't touched it for the past six years.
This little tragedy is still the only "dream" I could think to mention. Judging from the stacks upon stacks of children's books and spiral notebooks I had accumulated by the time I started elementary school, my parents must have figured otherwise than to drag me away from what I loved most.
- Where is the best place to get Korean in MontCo?
No doubt, I must say... my aunt's house. This summer, let me know when you're craving (becaue I always am anyway), and we'll take a trip together.

*Adam (
aoumd), I know you came up with questions for me a while ago. Can you help me find them? ...XD
