Not even two months ago, Meme and I looked up the videos and music of Conor Oberst, of Bright Eyes and found them all... interesting. Intriguing, perhaps. Well, maybe we didn't know what to think.

And now, I just finished listening to I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning. I liked it better than I thought I would.

it is. it's my favorite.
the video was on either MTVU or MTV2 a few weeks ago. it's people in a record store singing it to eachother. it broke my heart, but in a good way of course.
have you heard "When the President Talks to God" ?? (if not i can send it)

Spin did a feature on the guy back in February, and the line on the cover said, "BRIGHT EYES, Best Songwriter of His Generation?" Some stuff he sings makes me laugh... I hope that's intentional. Really, a lot of people say they take a while to get used to his stuff, which is why I'm surprised I liked it all right away.

i listened to part of one of conor's songs a few years ago, and all i could think of was that he had a terrible voice. gave it another listen a month or two after that and really liked it, then saw him at the 9:30 club freshman year. he drank so much on stage, i thought he was going to pass out. not my favorite, but i do like a lot of his stuff. fevers and mirrors and lifted both have some good songs on them.

Have you heard any of his Digital Ash in a Digital Urn stuff? I haven't, but I was just curious because that seemed like a random step to take for him.
