Last night @ Birmingham Academy.
We got there at around half five so we would have been at the back of the queue, but thankfully I know the head of security there, so we got let in first and didn't have to stand in the cold :] and then the doors opened just after six, and so of course we ran down and got front row centre. Ohyeah. Except there were obviously the bitches around who try to push you out of the way but we held our ground, for the most part.
And so after like an hour, The Junior Varsity came on and it was very exciting. They're all extremely hot. Plus they are actually pretty good as a band in general. Nick, the keyboardist, was like headbanging 'cause he barely ever played hahaha it was fun. And Sergio is hot. It was a good set. Yeah, so watch out for those guys. Making it big sometime soon. And then they went off and random members from Panic! came on and did stuff to their instruments and Ryan was crouching right in front of us and hi! he was so cute and I was screaming RYAN but he couldn't hear until the entire crowd was chanting RYAN RYAN RYAN RYAN and then he looked up and looked a bit scared and was like "hi" and then carried on doing whatever he was doing. And Brendon came on and everyone was like SLGKJSLFKHJDFBRENDONOMFG. Yeah.
And then we waited a while until they ACTUALLY came on to play. Opened with The Only Difference.. and the crowd just went wild. Seriously, everyone was just screaming the words and they all have so much charisma I was just about dying. They stopped in one of the songs because people in the middle were being trampled on and shiz and it was so sweet, he was like "wow, you guys are so hardcore!" and everyone was like YEAH.
Anyway. They were extremely awesome and I got Ryan's first plectrum, 'cause I asked him for it, he was so adorable I lovelovelove him. The crowd sang along to every single song, and they played all my favourites, ending with Build God, Then We'll Talk. I think that's what it was. Holycrap I can't even remember.
And after they went off we all hung around for a bit and then The Academy Is... came on and it was too amazing. William = ♥. He's such a performer, I love it. They did Checkmarks, Attention, Season, Skeptics and True Believers, Pour Yourself [new song], The Phrase That Pays, Classified, The Fever [new song], Slow Down, Almost Here, Down and Out and then Black Mamba [I only know that 'cause I got a setlist haha]. Also got William's grey plectrum that was in his mouth I was like OMG. Yes.
So it was truely amazing.
And afterwards, Ryan was walking along right in front of the barrier and no one even noticed and then I did and so I was like hi you were awesome and he was like thanks and then we had a photo and I just about died. He's too cute ♥
And then we wandered to the back of the venue and bought some t-shirts and then went and met the guys from The Junior Varsity. Dawson was so sweet/a little drunk, he was like "Yeah, you know that show Dawson's Creek? I have the same name as that guy. That show sucks." bless him. And so we got a photo with him and we got them with Nick, Sergio and Andrew. Nick is like our new best friend, he kept coming over and talking to us and there was one conversation which went like this: "So how far was like the drive for you guys?" "Liiike, twenty minutes?" "Oh, awesome. Where are you guys from?" "Like, Sutton? It's in the north of Birmingham." "Oh, awesome." "Where are you from?" "Illinois." "Really? I have a friend there!" "Well now you have two!" and he was so cute. And when we had to leave we hugged them all like a million times and I love them. Yesyes.
