Audrik!

Tracey, still wearing her ball gown, headed toward Professor Dolohov's office. She knew he was probably livid- and he had every right to be. She'd been carefully guarding her thoughts around Audrik for the past few weeks, and she'd been right to do so- the look in his eyes when he separated Miles and herself at the dance was horrible ( Read more... )

Audrik knew that knock by heart. He felt his heart drop into the pit of his stomach. He had left immediately after the dance to return to his room. He had every intention of getting drunk and passing out on his bed in hopes that when he woke up, none of it would have happened. He had only finished his first drink when she showed up at his door, so his body felt warm, but his mind... it was swarming with images of them together.

Typically, he let her enter on his own, but this time he answered the door himself. He had nothing to say, so he simply stared at her as if she had no business being there.

"Are you going to let me in, or am I going to stand here in the hallway?" Tracey asked him simply after a good three minutes had passed with the door open, both of them looking at each other expressionlessly.

How could she explain this one?

She'd explained worse, but he meant more than that to her. She could feel it. But she could feel other things, too... and it was all too much to handle.

Still without having spoken a word, Audrik walked away from the door, leaving it open for her to come in, though he never exactly invited her inside.

He took his seat at his desk, picking up his bottle of scotch and pouring himself a second glass. He was nearly ignoring her; he felt embarrassed and deceived, two emotions he had fought so hard to never feel again.

Tracey walked over to him and took the glass away from him, setting it on the edge of the desk away from him, placing herself between Audrik and the alcohol.

"That's not going to fix anything. I know, I've tried it before."

She searched his eyes for some kind of answer, solution, anything. Nothing was there but hurt.

"I'm sorry. He asked me to go and I accepted. I didn't expect it to be like that."
