It's been a while. It's been a little more than a while.

And Jack has missed Parker, so home he comes. Wearing his coat, with a new ear piercing, in different clothes that don't look like things Jack would wear, but it's been a long time.

Too long, as far as Jack is concerned.

Parker is eating old leftovers from a woman he met once. She took him home and made him dinner and he didn't have sex with her and she thought that made him a good guy.

He just felt dirty, in a way that grunge from the road didn't.

He isn't sure how he gets back here without Jack.

Jack is startled when the door is locked, because he never bothers to. And since he'd been trying to go through it rather quickly, there's a rattle, and a muffled yelp, and then a long moment whre he tries to figure out where the hell he put his keys.

For a second, Parker watches the door, then goes into the kitchen for another beer.

Jack eventually makes it through, and finds Parker in the kitchen, right away.

He pauses in the door frame, because he's practised this moment in his head. And now that seems to be meaning nothing.

"Hello, I missed you, and managed not to die."

Parker looks him up and down.

"I like the look," he says. He leans back against the fridge, pose careful.

"I brought you things," says Jack, a smile breaking through because it's good to be back.

"We should open them."

Parker smiles, faintly.

"You stayed away for a while."

"I don't think I'm ever doing that again, actually. I kept waking up without you there."

And there were fun parts. But still.

And he comes closer, because they're finally back and there's still this room between them.

"Yeah. I know how that feels."

Parker exhales a little sharply, because at least Jack wasn't sleeping in their bed alone.

There was one girl that he brought home and they had sex, but she woke up and touched their things and Parker kicked her out without a kiss.

Oh. Kiss. That sounds like a good idea.

Jack steps in close, and pauses, to give him time to duck away if he wants to.

"I got you things."

Parker says, "Why didn't you come back?"

"I needed to keep going. And I just got back, and didn't feel like waiting again."

He'd had enough of that, for a while.

"So it was my turn?"

Parker puts the beer down, only half drunk.

"It certainly wasn't mine again. And I think I needed to know that you knew what it was like."

Jack pulls the bag off his shoulders, and crosses to set it on the counter, next to Parker's beer. The window seems unsual for a moment, and then he realizes there's just no lipstick on it for once.

Parker grabs Jack suddenly, lips meeting his in an uneven, sloppy kiss.

Instead of just allowing, Jack does one better. He kisses back, hands curling in Parker's shirt, and pushes so he has him against the counter. So he can lean in and kiss him harder.
