Torchwood 4x07

God this episode took like six hours to download, wtf?

This episode was so different from the last few -- it ha more of an oldschool Torchwood vibe and was a bit of a break from the Miracle for the most part -- but I enjoyed it. I like that Gwen wasted no time tasering and tying up Jack LOL Gwen.

ALIENS. THERE WAS AN ALIEN. FINALLY.

AND HEY, EXPLICIT DOCTOR (WHO) REFERENCES. lolol I had been calling Angelo his "companion" the whole time, so having Jack make that explicit cracked me up. I fully expected Angelo to die tragically.

The ~devil~ scenes, ugh lol Jack, your shitty life. Don't think I didn't see those three guys make a triangle with their arms, show. 2 QUICK 4 U obviously.

I liked Gwen and Jack's conversation in the car, with Gwen's anger at everything and lots of interesting Gwen character stuff in terms of feeling "special", and I don't blame her at all for being like "hey Jack no offense but fuck you if my daughter's in danger", but I was baffled by Jack being like WELL FUCK YOU TOO NOW THAT I AM MORTAL I DON'T WANNA DIE. What? Since when? What? Hasn't Jack spent the last like 2000 years wishing he could die? Why....? But I guess I have never really understood Jack Harkness' character so ...that's alright, then.

Also, when was this meant to take place in Jack's timeline? I assumed it was post-POTW pre-Torcwhood s1, but then he mentions being 700 and uses the expression "fixed point" which you'd think was something he picked up in Utopia. So... okay.

My favourite part about this episode though was imagining first-time American audiences sitting there going "...what the fuck?" the entire time.

Lastly, Rex and Esther to the rescue! How unexpected! Can fandom please stop complaining about how dumb Esther is? She made that one mistake in seeing her family, sure, but beyond that she's been very clever and having family as a blind spot is a legit blind spot to have.
