I am now curious: has anyone read all of the Series of Unfortunate Events books? Can someone give me a basic run-down of the ending and whether or not it was happy or whatever? I read the first five years ago and lost interest but I've always been curious and Wikipedia is confusing and vague.

LOL LOL

He should do an epsiode about not sleeping with your hand and/or leg dangling over the edge of the bed. I guess GITF was kind of like that.

The end was ambiguous and COMPLETELY UNSATISFYING I HAVE A LOT OF RESIDUAL ANGER ABOUT THIS.

But the first twelve books were AMAZING and I love them.

LOL. IKR?

I read all 13 books and liked them when I read them, but I do not think I understood the ending or the entire plot of the series.

I loved them and was obsessed and spent ages trying to figure everything out, so it felt like a total scam that there wasn't any payoff to the years of my life I spent trying to put all the pieces together.

Wow that sounds annoying, there's nothing more annoying than investing time in a series and getting a totally shit ending. Glad I jumped ship when I did. I was a bit too old when I picked them up, so I never kept up with them, but I was always curious about whether there would be a happy ending or not -- I mean, it said there wouldn't be, but it's a kids' series.

Hmm. I feel like I read the first eleven books, but I cannot say that I understood the overall plot. I did ship Violet/Quigley though

Violet/Quigley was the best thing ever! (With a supplement of Klaus/Isadora. Fiona who?)

wow, it's been years since i read those books, because i cannot even remember isadora or fiona.

but i always remember that part in "the slippery slope" where lemony's like "and then violet and quigley had a nice moment on the mountaintop, but i won't repeat it here for you nosy people" or something. LOL LEMONY SNICKET WHAT A TROLL (but for real, 6th-grade-me thought that was ridiculously romantic)

Isadora was the girl of the Quagmire triplets. Does that ring a bell? And Fiona was the mushroom-loving chick from the eleventh book of which I can't remember the name right now.

I remember that too! Sixth-grade me also thought it was ridic romantic. Lemony's trolling is still amusing and also kind of sweet because if I were making out with Quigley I would not want all you nosy people reading about it either.

better yet, I read all of the books and I have no idea what the plot of the last three were

LOL I GOT OUT AT THE RIGHT TIME I SEE

I picked them up when I was a bit too old, so all his "___ which here means ___" pissed me off rather than entertaining me, etc. But I wanted to know if the ending was happy or not because the laws of children's fiction says yes, despite Lemony Snicket saying no.

I was too old too, but that was one of the elements I loved about the books.

In other news I am 3/4 of the way through "The Beast Below" SO I GUESS I WATCH DOCTOR WHO NOW

I read them ages ago and remember being highly confussled about it all. I remember something about what's his name? The bad guy? Yeah, he ended up having some tragic backstory or something where he was in love with the kids' mother (?) or maybe he was her brother? But anyway, he died. And that's pretty much all I remember from the end lol. That's not really helpful at all...

But I *think* it was meant to be a happy ending. I mean, he stopped chasing after their money and stuff...

Hmmm I guess that is pretty happy all things considered! I was curious mostly because the books kept repeating that there wouldn't be a happy ending, and even as a kid I was like "BULLSHIT, IT'S KIDS' BOOKS". But I didn't care enough to read all 13.
