So 2010 is almost over! I ...can't decide if I liked it or not. I'll have to think on it. I spent last night watching Lost in Austen with my friends, and while I was pretty severely unimpressed with it I did enjoy playing a good round of Doctor Who Bingo. (River Song, Adelaide Brooke, Tish Jones and Nancy from TEC/TDD ftw!) To the ending, though, I say, "LOL R U SRS". Frankly I think the show should've followed Lizzie Bennet, because she was obviously having a grand old time.
I'm going to do that fic meme everyone else has done.
World Without YouPG; Eleven(/Rose), Amy(/Rory)
Amy storms out of the cottage in Upper Leadworth with desperate conviction and the Doctor follows after her, a ringing in his ears and a lead weight of guilt in his stomach.
Skipping Stones
G; Rose, River (Doctor/Rose and Doctor/River)
The next time she meets River, Rose saves her life.
Ten Minutes -- collaboration with
goldy_dollar, episode 12 of
the_altversePG; Ten2/Rose, Pete
Rose was in the same room as a high-tech alien bomb and five innocent people, and he was stuck in a van waiting for a light to change.
King and Country -- collaboration with
goldy_dollarPG-13; Ten2/Rose, Jackie, Pete, OCs
"Biological warfare. You want me to help you create a virus that will wipe out anything that isn't native to this planet." He turned to face Anders and the guards and laughed, low and threatening. "That's not happening."
CompositeG; Martha, Ten/Rose
For much of the time Martha travels with the Doctor, she thinks of Rose as a fictional character.
Meme responses:

Perchance to DreamG; Ten, Donna
*Spoilers for 'The End of Time: Part 2'
The recognition in her voice seems to spark new life in him, and his face breaks into a beaming smile. “That’s me. Hello!”
01. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?:
Probably less? I wrote a lot of long-ish stuff with Frances so it feels like I've been writing pretty consistently for most of the year, but I think I tallied 9 fics or something which is less than before. I seem to have forgotten how to write short things.
02. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?:
Well that "things you wouldn't normally write" meme meant I wrote stuff like babyfic and Ten/Donna, which was a bit weird, but that's the point of the meme. I also wrote a fic about River Song, which is pretty unusual for me.
03. What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?:
"King and Country" probably! I think it turned out well and am very happy with the finished product even though at times it seemed like it would never finish and the ending was rewritten like six times.
04. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?:
UMMMM... I dunno? I guess writing long stuff forces me to think about, you know, plot and whatnot. And plot is HARD okay. And so are OCs.
05. Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?:
It would be nice if I could translate any of the million stories swirling around in my head into actual words. I have been having this problem a lot lately and I do not know how to make it stop. The action scenes and everything are all there in my brain, but when I sit down to try and write it just doesn't happen.
Also, Frances and I have been writing this fic for literally like six months and it needs to be finished and released to the world.
06. From my past year of writing, what was...
My Best Story:
I think "King and Country" is probably ~the best. I also really liked writing "Skipping Stones" and seeing the response to that fic because it was nice to see people be civil about two "competing" love interests.
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:
LOL I dunno, I don't remember thinking any of them were particularly underappreciated. I do wonder how many people were scared off by "Eleven/River" in the header of "The Long Way Home" though lol.
Most Popular:
Probably "Skipping Stones" which has lots of nice recs and stuff. People seemed to really appreciate Rose and River not bitching each other out, which I appreciated. SEE FANDOM CAN BE A NICE PLACE. SOMETIMES.
Most Fun:
LOL I think "Long Way Home" was great, I was unemployed and out of school and we wrote most of it in like, five days. AND I got to write Crazy Ten arguing with Cloen which was super fun and I would do it more often if the pronouns didn't scare me.
Most Disappointing:
I dunno what this means exactly, but I flounced like half-way into "Ten Minutes" and made Frances write almost all of it so let's stick with that one.
Most Sexy:
lolol probably the Ten/Donna thing, hilariously.
Story With The Single Sweetest Moment:
What is this question, I don't write fluff. Probably "Making Do", since the whole point of it was to emphasize that Donna would not be miserable forever and ever.
He cooks for her on their first date, and Donna’s too embarrassed to ask if it’s because he can’t afford to take her out. There was a time, Donna thinks, with no small amount of shame, that might have put her off, but now it hardly seems to matter, and it’s not like she’s got money to spare, either, not with her temping job ending soon. And anyway she’s anxious to see if his cooking lives up to his coffee.
His roommate Greg is just on his way out the door when she arrives, but he stops to say hello and assures her he’s heard great things. Shaun’s flat is small and cramped, but it’s nice, she thinks, in a homey sort of way, and the sofa in the living room is perfect for watching television.
He puts out a bottle of wine on the table and very nearly burns the dinner because, he says, he’s nervous. Donna feels giddy before she’s even had a sip of the Syrah and helps herself to a big piece of pie even though she hates pears. He laughs at her jokes and doesn’t mind when she’s loud, and somehow-this is the miracle, Donna thinks-he makes her feel important.
Biggest Surprise:
I am not sure what I am meant to be surprised by! I was surprised I managed to make myself write Ten/Donna, babyfic and immortal Rose fic?
Favourite Angst:
LOL @ the Frances verison of this meme. W/E I ACCEPT IT. Hmmmmmmmmmm. LOL SO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM. Let's go with the Ten/Cloen argument in "Long Way Home":
"I didn't mean to be there," said the other Doctor. He paced back and forth at the end of the bed, pulling at his hair. "I didn't. I was just looking for something to do, just-something, anything, honestly I didn't mean for it to be then-but then I was there, and there was something in the water, and they were dying, and..." He stopped pacing long enough to look at the Doctor, his eyes wide and frantic and terrified. "I tried to leave, I did, but they were dying and I didn't-I couldn't-"
He broke off with a frustrated hiss, turning his back on the Doctor and grabbing his hair with both hands. His shoulders shook as he took several deep breaths, and then he let go of his hair, his arms falling limply to his sides. "She shot herself. I told her what was meant to happen and she shot herself." He laughed bitterly and shook his head. When he spoke again, his voice was quiet. "No matter what I do I make it worse."
But the Doctor's eyes were narrowed and unsympathetic. "That's a fixed point," he snapped. "You can't go changing fixed points just because you don't double-check your holiday spots, that's dangerous! The things you could do to history-to the universe, that's-"
The other Doctor wheeled around, suddenly furious. "Shut up," he snarled. "Don't you dare lecture me. You have no idea how it's been for me this past year, listening to people tell me I'm going to die, travelling alone because when people travel with me they get hurt, and how can I justify that? And even if I could, they'd leave me anyway, and I can't take that anymore, I can't." He paused long enough to take a breath, his lip curling in bitterness and fury and resentment. "Meanwhile, you-you've spent the last three years living happily ever after in a parallel world, shagging Rose! You're not even a Time Lord! So don't you dare sit there and tell me what I can and cannot do, like you wouldn't do exactly the same thing in my position."
Fuck yeah, Crazy Ten.
Anyway, hope you have a good new year's eve, whatever you're doing. Here is an adorable video someone posted on Facebook with bonus surprise lulz:
