This is all going to be a little sketchy as I had enough trouble remembering the events of the weekend the morning after they occurred let alone now.

Friday 31st March 2006

Mullet-heads, Umpa loompa's and of course....tequila.

We (that is Dave (who's birthday it was), Megan, Arran and I) met in the Walnut tree around 8pm and waited for the others to arrive, no-one knew who was coming and nobody was answering their phones so we gave it an hour, had a few drinks, no-one else turned up so we headed off to Romford.

You know how there are certain clubs or bars that attract a certain type of person, like some bars will be full of rock type people and some clubs will be full of chavs. Well Romford is one giant idiot magnet! Idiot isn't really a fair descriptive word for the people in Romford its just I don't know the slang for the 'look' and personally I associate this particular look with idiots. Mainly because these people are usually the oness fighting, acting like they are gods gift and generally being rude and obnoxious. Now I really don't like generalisation so I'll add now that not everyone dressed like this are idiots....some may just be confused or maybe part of some sort of bet.

Ok, here's the dress code for the guys.......pink tea-shirt, faded/distressed jeans and most importantly of all a two-toned mullet! Yes.....a mullet, remember, long at the back, short at the sides usually some sort of fringe thing going on there. Some could pull the look off and it's not the look that bothers me, each to there own, it was just funny seeing every guy in Romford in the same outfit.....even blokes that were about 40 with beer bellies were walking about with tight pink t-shirts.

So that's the guys, now for the girls dress code, number 1........... , did you miss something? No, because to have a dress code you have to be wearing clothes. Now don't get me wrong, showing skin is hot but leave a little to the imagination otherwise instead of pulling off hot you arrive at hoe, you have to be careful there's a very fine line, its called a belt and its generally not worn on its own. The thing is it was so bloody cold, it's England for fucks sake! You would have thought they would have turned blue it was that cold but they weren't blue, no, they were orange! Yes, item number two, all girls in Romford must have previously appeared in Charlie and the chocolate factory!!

Ok rant over, and yes I was over exaggerating a little but not a lot. Seriously 75% of these people were identical, it was funny. Anyway, we went to a few different bars, had a few different beers, and I bought everyone tequila (stooopeh!). I had kept with the not taking out much money (more than I said I would tho) and I was almost out of cash already. It was about midnight and I said I was going home cos of funds, Dave said he would shout be a couple of beers and pay the entry to the club. So we headed for the club, missing the opportunity to get the last bus back. This was not good because when we got to the club they wouldn't let Dave in without ID and me without trainers, brilliant! I hated Romford anyway and a guy that looks about 30 was asked for ID and I wasn't!

We got a taxi back (Dave paid the £20, he's already paid £20 on the way up cos he couldn't be bothered to get a bus, all right for some.), we asked the taxi driver Bill (I think) loads of questions on the way back, like what is his favorite film, favorite song and favorite city....he told us.......I forgot. When we got back we met up with some other people and then went round Dave's flat and drank brandy and more tequila and listened to old school music like that song that goes 'put your hands up, put your hands up' that they would always play in this club in Norfolk. Then Dave and Megan wanted to go to bed, it was about 3am maybe 4am, I'm not to sure. I went with a couple of people that I was with the night of 'the walk', the gay guy (Bill) and the vegetarian (susie). We went back to susie's house and sat in the summerhouse out the back and drank beer and talked about music. I left there just after 6am and got home around 7am.

I had such a cool night and it had started so crap, Romford really wasn't my scene. Had such a laugh after we left there, was good just chilling with friends and listening to good music.

I was going to now go on and write about the party on Saturday but this post is too long now (mainly because of an in depth look at the people of Romford) and anyway I've got to cook some dinner. All that getting up, putting the kettle on and waiting for the noodles to warm is a highly skilled and time consuming process.

I'll make sure the events of the day before yesterday will be posted the day after today.

Chamone!
