I am procrastinating on going to bed, because I'm feeling sad/crappy, despite the fact that I know I will feel better after some sleep. So I am going to tell you about something that makes me crazy:
When people (TV shows, news articles, reporters, occasionally fic writers, etc.) say that X has been touched in some way (a harmful or offensive touching, if you will) and then proceed to call it assault. Drives me up the wall. Because that is a battery, people. Assault is when you think they're going to touch you (put you in apprehension of a harmful or offensive touching, if you will again). So, if, for example, someone punches you in the face, that is a battery. If they make you think they're going to punch you in the face, that's assault.
