I've posted this before, in a journal I had last year, but the message still rings true. This message is written by Ray, the vocalist of Taken, and it can be found in the insert of the "Between Two Unseens" vinyl E.P. The lyrics of this release really hit home to me, and most likely countless others. I highly reccomend reading them (here). Even though they may have a seemingly negative message, it really has helped me in times of distress, and may help you as well.

"While most of [Between Two Unseens] deals with the topics of isolation, hopelessness, conformity and loss, it is by no means meant to detract from the overall message of making life valid. The only way we can grow as individuals is to go through these horrible things in life like death, the loss of a lover or growing apart from a friend. All of our paths through life take us to where we are today. I would not be the same person if it were not for my grandpa dying of cancer, my grandma contracting Alzheimer's and the loss of someone I held dear.'Things change when people forget,' Bob Dylan once said, but I could not disagree more. The more we forget, the less we are like ourselves. If we all knew the exact time and place we were to die, would we lead our lives differently? I sure hope not. The concepts of death and life make what we are doing here in our lives important. While many are content living their lives like what has been laid out before, we should all strive for a different path; a path that only opens up to those who are looking for it. This is by no means a paragraph out of a self-help book, but a call to arms to make what we do in life special, whether it be creating the cure for a life-threatening disease, or making sure that the hallways are clean before school begins. No matter how small or large the tasks are, life should be spent on living and not how to die."

Anyhow, I love you all and hope you're well.

-Tyler

[p.s.: expect more lyrics from Taken in the near future.]
