Hello people. Ha, I don't know why I said hello; not like you can respond or anything. ANYWAYS, things have been going OK I suppose. Um, today the counsolers came to class and dumped all this info. on us regarding senior year and college and whatnot. I don't want to think ahead that far, because I don't know what it's going to be like, and frankly I would care not to. I mean I consider myself a pretty, mature guy I suppose, but thinking about where I'm going to be in say 5 years is kind of, well weird. I'm writing this with my headphones on, because my brother is recording an internet radio show about like space and all these weird phenomena and whatnot. It's pretty interesting, but I'd rather listen to music. Today Lincoln and Evan invited me to go eat at Subway, and I thought to myself, "haha, how can I turn down a Subway sandwhich?!" But then I looked in my wallet and found I only had 3 dollars. Son of the bitch. So I just went to regular old A lunch. Ha, like every journal I've read of a girl that goes to Reagan has something about that new guy. They all love his hair. I tell you those guys always get the girls, the ones with the hair. It's not fair I tell ya. Maybe I sould cut my hair like that. Haha no I wouldn't do that. I've been listening to a lot of slow, kind of depressing type music, like Interpol. Eh, it's catchy and relaxing. Obstacle is a good song. Oh speaking of music, I would like to present my top 5 favorite pieces of music I've purchased/listened to in say, the past two years. In no particular order, actually kind of, well, ya ok sort of.
1. Any and everything by Fugazi- Wow this band will never stop amazing me. I'm mean I know everyone like praises them, but I really, really enjoy this band. Ian Mackaye, Guy Piccotto, Brenden Canty, and Joe Lally will forever be some of my favorite musicians. Awsome drumming with a bassist that just will blow your mind. The catchy rhythm section is cut through completely by awsome guitar work from the two vocalists. Yeilding feedback and harmonics they create amazing sounds and write amazing songs with good lyrics. Wow.
2. Discount- Ok for 2 I'd think I've have to say Discount. I have all of their CD's and a 7". Alison Mosshart's voice is just awsome and the music is catchy. Enough said.
3. Minor Threat "Complete Discography"- Ha this is an actual album, because there's only one CD. I have all their vinyl releases except for In My Eyes, because it's out of print. Hardcore from D.C., what more do you want people?!
4. Minutemen "Double Nickels on the Dime"- Ok the Minutemen are just good, D. Boon rules, Mike Watt is awsome on bass, and Hurley can play the freakin' drums.
5. Embrace "S/T"-Ok it may seem like I'm an Ian Mackaye freak, but this a truly good album. The only album from post Minor Threat, pre-Fugazi Ian Mackaye on vocals, and pretty much the Faith playing all the instruments and writing the amazing music. The early stages of the "emo" music genre. The lyrics are more personal and the music takes on a new sound. Well it's not new anymore because this was like 20 some odd years ago, but it's and amazing album. If you want to hear a good album, order it from Dischord.
Ok this list could probably change a billion times depending on how I feel at the moment, but these stand out because I can always listen to them, no matter what mood I fall into. Other late contenders would be Radiohead's "OK Computer", Interpol's "Turn on the Bright Lights", The Smiths "Meat is Murder", Descendents "Milo Goes to College", Dag Nasty's "Can I Say", Bane "Give Blood" Pretty Girls Make Graves "The New Romance" alright I'd be hear all night listing albums. Have fun and enjoy music.
