Ah, Anna Nalick, you're so good for the soul.

Considering i have a ton to do today, i thought i'd update :-P.

Alright, so Thursday i woke up ridiculously early and drove (making great time--four and a half hours) to Gull Lake for a Labor Day. Getting there a day early was interesting. I finished the Fro Bros intro on Thursday before heading to my Grandmother's house for dinner. It's so nice to go there for dinner, my uncle made some fantastic vegetarian lasagna andi learned a lot about my ancestors. Afterward, i attempted to do some more video but ended up going to Grand Rapids instead. It was a nice trip, i enjoyed it. I ended my evening in Boaz--i mean RUTH! I shall call it Ruth out of protest!---with some great guys and a hilarious movie.

The rest of the weekend was pretty crazy. I learned to be a counselor, one of the few things i didnt do this summer. It wasnt too bad, but i think back to a conversation I had with Igloo. "Does the persistence of children amuse you, Cupid?" I answered yes, but now i'm not so sure. Nuke 'Em with 8 yr old boys is a trip... one kept asking to play another game. That is, until he made a fantastic dive (which injured his neck, he told me 500 times.) and then he spent the rest of the weekend asking me if i saw his game-winning catch. It was pretty cute. My girls were sweet, and i enjoyed Lakeside even WITHOUT the Fro Bros.

Staff-wise it was awesome! It was so nice to see everyone! Friday night we went to Sweetwater, to be early for next summer's meeting. Ernesto and Toothpick mistook my gender, we saw an ad for the coolest table ever, and I sat with False Alarm, Roo, and Daniel. On the way home everyone in Braveheart's car talked to Footsie, then she and I talked until 1 am. Saturday night was spent at the Palella's. My gender was--shock--mistaken. We watched the week 9 dvd, I shared silly embarrassing moments (except the one I told Squack! shh...) and Ernesto cracked McDiver and I up. Monday Braveheart and I finished the 2nd half dvds, I took pictures of the garden, and went to the Wallaces for pizza... and for a trip through the sprinklers thanks to Braveheart's parking.

All in all, great weekend. I loved seeing everyone I'd been missing the past two weeks...I'll never forget a very serious Noel asking me "did you vote for Bush or Kerry, or is that a I-shouldn't-ask question?" Or how i had to say goodbye to McDiver... tough, considering he was probably the first person i really connected with this summer. Or the well meaning guest asking me if Braveheart and I were married. Or the great conversation Dave and i had Sunday night. Or ice cream on the boat with Squack. Or reading Beowulf to False Alarm in the Sugar Shack (in between renditions of "Blue Moon," whenever a guest ordered that particular flavor). Or the look on Mrs.Reis' face as she talked about her husband coming home from Iraq... all the tiredness melted away. She seemed fresh, it made me so happy.

These are the reasons I love Gull Lake. It was a great summer...
