Slade crossed his arms behind his back, surveying his rag-tag congregation from the shadows that wreathed the stage and podium that were all for show.
"Welcome... you all know why you are here. Not because you are 'the best and the brightest'... quite the opposite. You are the dark, the dismal, the weak, the cowardly, the insane, the uncontrollable... the bane of every hero. I have brought you here so that you might be shaped, forged into a weapon to be hurled in the face of 'good' and 'right'." A smile twisted his lips in the shelter of his mask. "You have this one choice: Serve me, or go back to the prisons and 'hospitals' that I have dredged you out of..."
He paused for a second, as though giving them a chance to consider his 'offer'...
"Good. Welcome to The Institute. We're only a step away from the future."
