When did they start building the parkway?
In 1945, the New Jersey State Legislature passed legislation enabling construction of the 164-mile-long NJ 4 Parkway. With only 18 miles of parkway completed by 1950, financing the remainder of the parkway had become difficult. On April 14, 1952, the State Legislature enacted legislation to create the New Jersey Highway Authority, which was to construct, operate and maintain a self-sufficient toll parkway from Paramus to Cape May. This legislation also gave the project a new name: the Garden State Parkway. The Garden State Parkway is a 172.4-mile toll parkway that stretches the length of New Jersey from the New York state line at Montvale, New Jersey, to Cape May at the southern tip of the state.

what is gout?
Gout (also called metabolic arthritis) is a disease created by a buildup of uric acid. In this condition, monosodium urate or uric acid crystals are deposited on the articular cartilage of joints, tendons and surrounding tissues due to elevated concentrations of uric acid in the blood stream. This provokes an inflammatory reaction of these tissues. Gout is characterized by excruciating, sudden, unexpected, burning pain, as well as swelling, redness, warmness, and stiffness in the affected joint. Gout usually attacks the big toe, it also can affect other joints such as the ankle, heel, instep, knee, wrist, elbow, fingers, and spine.
