The trappings of the tiny

Time: 8 P.M.
Place: Work

A man comes flying into the store and walks immediately to the back. This sometimes worries me, seeing as they a)want something or b)want to talk to me. Turns out this man wanted both. He starts off asking me if I've seen his wife and daughter.

Me: ....

He then (in one BIG breath) relays this huuuge story about how his wife comes in here all the time with their children and their little dog and they know the other girl who works here! Gretchen? Yeah that one! The one with the hair that's...short? Yeah the short hair! They're friends and my kid is crying -he's throwing up- and my car died, the battery is dead, and my cell phone battery just died and I can't reach my wife -you don't know who she is!?-and I'll buy you dinner I swear I'll be back in 30 minutes, a half an hour, and I'll buy you dinner I swear, you'd be doing me a huge favor cause my kid is crying in the car and they're gonna tow my car and -

Me: So what is it you want from me?

Well I just need the balance, that's all I need so the car doesn't get towed and my kid is freakin' out and -

Me: So how much?

Just twenty bucks! Just the balance, I swear I'll buy you dinner, I'll do anything, a half an hour -

Me: Umm I'm sorry but I can't do that, but I can call the owners and -

No! They won't know who I am they only know my wife! Ohh Jesus I'm gonna get towed..

[exits.]

So obviously Gretchen did not know of this woman at all because the guy was trying to SCAM me! Wackos. Then Adam walked in and surprised me and we went for dinner and then I saw Andrea on the subway [!!] and then we caught the train home and -
