Jamie was hiding. He had been forced to spend the afternoon with his Father's current wife and his new baby half-sister and he couldn't be any more miserable. He had ducked into Flourish and Blotts quickly, keeping an eye on the door incase she came in looking for him.

Autumn looked around Flourish and Bloots. She wasn't sure what she wanted to read, romance or mystery? As she pondered this she realized there was boy in her way. "Excuse me." She said.

"Yer excused," he muttered, scooting aside but not taking his eyes off the door.

Autumn looked at what Jamie was looking at. The door seemed rather boring to her. "Who are you waiting for?" She asked him.

"I'm not waiting fer anyone...I'm avoiding someone," he ducked behind a stack of books, but it was a false alarm.

"Well then standing in plain sight isn't such a brilliant plan, is it?" Autumn asked him, "No wonder you're not a Ravenclaw." She shook her head at him.

"I'm not in plain sight," he muttered, peering over the top of the books.

"Okay." Autumn said in disbelief. "I'd hide in the back if I were you." She told him. She walked down the aisle and then looked back at him. "But if you want to get caught, by all means stay there."

He took another look back at the door before following her to the back of the store.

Autumn ran her fingers over the spines of book titles that pulled her interest. "So who're you avoiding?" She pulled a book off the shelf.

"My dad's new wife," he replied, pulling a random book from the shelf, rolling it in his hands.

"Why?" Autumn asked; she never had a mother. She wasn't sure who hers was exactly, she didn't care much either. Whoever she was, she didn't want anything to do with Autumn.

"Is she an evil step mother?" Autumn smirked.

"No...not evil...just," he sighed. "Annoying."

Autumn smiled. "Well that's the traditional parent, isn't it?" Autumn picked up another book and read the synopsis of the book, "Annoying, over-protective, lame."

"She's not my parent," he replied with a frown.

"She's your step-mum." Autumn reminded him. "That makes her your parent, doesn't it?"
