Short description/summary of the book: Venice, 1468. Sosia Simeon, a free-spirited sensualist, is the lover of many men in the fabled city, though married to one she despises. On the edge of the Grand Canal, Wendelin von Speyer sets up the first printig press in Venice and looks for the book that will make his fortune. When he tempts fate by publishing Catullus, the poet whose desperate and unrequited love inspired the most tender poems of antiquity, a scandal is set in motion that will change their lives forever.
My thoughts: *sigh* Geez, this book drrrrraaagggggeeedddd. For such a large cast of characters, it's a shame that the only involving ones are the least featured (Felice and Bruno, I love your big slashy angst!). None of the plot lines were even vaguely interesting, save Catullus' letters, and Lovric has a really weird, formal writing style that puts a massive distance between reader and story. I spent most of it wishing Sosia would fall into a canal and die. It's well researched though, I guess. (always a positive!)
Torchwood!!!!!! WHY TOSH?!?!?!?!? Why? Owen, frankly, I couldn't care less about. He'd already died and he never stopped whinging. But, I loved Tosh, omg. Cried buckets when her little message popped up on the computer. Episode itself was fairly poorly written though, and not enough Ianto. There's never enough Ianto. I still don't think it's as good a series as it should be - but it has its fabulous moments (the missing people ep especially).
Doctor Who - undecided on Catherine Tate. Knew about Rose, but my Dad was so shocked he nearly bolted from the sofa :D
Supernatural was awesome. You know I love the bro angst. Falling piano! Rabid dog! Dodgy tacos! I was unspoiled, so when Dean actually died on Wednesday I was like "wtf?!?!? NO". And they man-hugged. It was lovely, though I think we get a massive break after the next ep due to writer's strike *shakes fist*.
Work is killing me this week :(
