Someone please hand Rupert Grint a pair of scissors
I just saw the new Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire trailer. People generally seem to be quite impressed with this movie so far, but I can't say I'm particularly thrilled about some of the things they've shown us.
Some General Observations:
1. Durmstrang does not only have boys. And, as a point of interest, Beauxbatons doesn't only have girls.
2. Color me stupid, but why is Hagrid attempting to swat the Beauxbatons horses with a ping-pong paddle?
3. I didn't see any real need to spend a good chunk of the trailer detailing all the Yule Ball kerfuffle. We'll see plenty of that in the film, I'm sure, and it really wasn't THAT integral to the plot of the book. I wish that everyone in the entire universe wouldn't attempt to beat people over the head with hormones in Harry Potter. Yes. We *know* that they're teenagers. We *know* they think about shagging all the time. It's REALLY NOT THAT FASCINATING.
4. If you see a huge surge in the number of Ron/McGonagall shippers, remember...I saw it coming.
5. I didn't know Mad-Eye Moody was so Irish. Or so fat.
6. Okay, this has to be said. When Sirius speaks to Harry out of the fire, I DON'T think it means that his head is ACTUALLY INTEGRATED IN THE COALS OF THE FIRE. I always pictured his head kind of floating above the hearth. Mmmk? No head-shaped coals or anything. That's just WEIRD, people.
7. I am still puzzled by the fleeting shots of the Hogwarts Marching Band.
Unsurprisingly, I have yet to see a Harry Potter trailer that turned my head. This one was very visually stunning and the music was sufficiently intense, but the sequence and pacing didn't inspire me to give two hoots about this film. I personally think that, just by watching these few brief clips, the script is going to be pretty weak. I guess I haven't come to expect much more out of these films, so I'm not disappointed. I'll definitely admit that Miranda Richardson will kick ass as Rita Skeeter.
Today, I decided that my iPod is plotting against me. I tried to put more songs on it and it deleted everything in its library. SO I HAVE NO SONGS ON MY IPOD ANYMORE. Other than that, I'm really, really, really exhausted. Life is happening really fast right now.
