ah, Labor Day. a celebration of the working class and its toils. neil and i both have the day off. we're baking barbecued chicken and are going to have mustard potato salad alongside for lunch. it's our attempt to become more domestic.
we actually met some cool people on Saturday night; they were a bunch of (fashionably) geeky anime/video game guys with whom we found much in common. they were very intelligent and had a great sense of humor. i guess you could call them our first real "friends" here in OKC. we met at Cafe Oasis, our favorite bubble tea joint; much of the evening's fun involved talking unsuspecting people into trying a taro milkshake, which was later described as being "tolerable, in a cookies and cream sort of way." i think they were daunted by taro being a purple tuber vegetable. looks like we'll be meeting up with those guys on a fairly regular basis if all goes as planned.
