Hooray for End of Term Assignments

Apr 05, 2005 12:43

So, as the end of the semester creeps towards me in it's typical silent, unexpected and yet oh-so-deadly manner, I find myself swamped with projects yet again.

And I just wasted the last hour and a half.

For Enlish 200, I have to finish reading Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale"*. My final project is to do a scene from it, which means I need to find some people to help me, need to film, edit, and write up the 300 word essay by Monday.

Enlish 315, Shakespeare, Brent and I are writing a prologue to the characters of Miranda and Caliban from The Tempest. Specifically, this means we have to write a rape scene in blank verse, memorize it and perform it by next Thursday. This also requires a 300 word write up.

Cognitive Psych, I still have to do my test on people of the "propaganda effect" and write up... what is it, 10 pages? I'm not sure. 6, maybe.

And then there's the show, my audition and the choir performance. Whoopty-fucking-doo.

*About "A Handmaid's Tale": this is the only thing I've actually bothered to read this semester... totally worth it though. Anyone who likes a good dystopian novel that makes you want to cry into your pillow because you begin to lose hope for humanity... read it. Even more upsetting, however, that makes you want to throw up when you think of this possible future for us, read her follow up novel "Oryx and Crake". I read it first, and, God, did I ever feel miserable for weeks. But, damn, was it ever good, in the "humans suck, I want to die" sort of way
