I had worked, the store was almost done moving it's stock, and my manager was sure she was getting fired. I went home around 5, got my bag together and lay down. At 8, my dad drove me to the hospital, by 9 I was in my room and ready. The doctor slipped in the hormone to speed my delivery.
The next few hours are strange to me. i had no idea of time, only the faces of those around me. The nurses were surprised by how little I complained or moaned, the doctor had to convince me to take an epidural. I eventually fell asleep and my family went to Perkin's for breakfast.
When they came back, I told them i felt like pushing. They hurried a nurse in, who smiled in relief. They had all been worried about having to do a C-section. No need because with in 15 minutes of actual pushing, Naomi was born easily, at 7:35 am, May 9th, 2002.
I was the second face she saw, the doctor's being the first. My parents were both there, proud an tearful. My sisters were right outside the door to hear her first cries. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, and as happy as I was then, it breaks my heart with joy today. happy birthday, my beloved baby girl. My Naomi Skye.
