I like the 4 Real thing. Honestly. It just shows how much they like each other.
I'll just go through the duets first, then thoughts on the solos.
Courtney and Will: Samba and Hip-Hop
WOW. I usually hate, hate hate hate Courtney (her smile looks like someone's taking her face and squooshing it) but I LOVED her in both routines tonight. She fucking killed it. And Will's no slouch either. I preferred him to Courtney in the hip-hop routine simply because he hit the positions harder than Courtney did, which surprised me because he's such a technical ballet dancer. He really went there with the physicality, and I honestly can say that I'm torn between him and Twitch for winning the whole thing. The routines themselves were just fantastic (I love Tabatha and Napoleon and Alicia Keys so them combined with the dancers was GOLD) and say what you will about Courtney's dancing skills, but bitch knows how to perform.
Twitch and Katee: Contemporary and Broadway
First off, how cool that Twitch and Katee knew each other!
I would really, really like to see Katee do something other than HER STYLE OF DANCING. Of course she's gonna be good at that! Other than the samba and hip-hop routines she got a few weeks ago it seems like all she's been doing is contemporary and broadway (I will forget about the west coast swing one because...Benji, I love you, but that was just bad). I mean, she was great and all, but I COMPLETELY agreed with Toni on the idea that Twitch dances from the inside out, whereas Katee dances from the outside in. I really do like Katee, but something about her still bugs me. Now, the routines themselves were pretty good, although I'm SO SICK OF TYCE AND HIS BAG OF BROADWAY HORSESHIT. Now, nothing against Tyce's contemporary stuff (his Garden of Eden routine is absolute magic), but JAYSUS, man. Get better moves! Not all Broadway routines are PIZZAZZ like that, and I'm sad that the two that the In The Heights choreographer did earlier this season didn't go over so well since the guy won a Tony this year (I might be the only person alive who really really liked the West Side Story routine...and not just because I think Thayne is bangable). I love Mia Michaels, but it was cool to see a routine of hers that wasn't spousal abuse set to music (it seems like every routine, the girl is getting thrown around like a rag doll!). And I LOVE "Mercy" so it was great to see that she can do funky as well as lyrical. And jeeeez...Twitch can kiss, can't he? ;)
Mark and Comfort: Hip-Hop and Foxtrot
Oh, Mark, bb. *weeps* I love him so, so much, and it's so obvious that he's gone tomorrow. So, utterly, obvious. He's probably the best performer on the show, so I was hoping that maybe he'd go all the way (I mean, Benji beat Travis and Sabra beat Danny, both of which are FUCKING TRAVESTIES). But the hip-hop routine seriously gave me hope, because Holy SHIT, that was tight. That swing over the shoulder throw that Mark did was absolutely AWESOME. And seriously, say what you will about Comfort, but the girl knows how to pop and lock. And Mark kept up with her, although it was interesting to note that he kind of got out-danced as far as clean lines went. As for the foxtrot...I honestly thought it was cute, and I couldn't see all of the faults that the judges saw in it (And dannnnng, Mary was harsh!). Then again, I don't do this shit for a living. And I honestly do like Comfort, but it's definitely her time to go. Her solo was...yeesh.
Joshua and Chelsie: Argentine Tango and Disco
BEST COUPLE OF THE NIGHT. They were so, so so so so good. I don't know if Chelsie's going to win the competition (my sister believes she's going to, I think it's Twitch) but HER LEGS MAKE ME SAD THAT MINE ARE SO INFERIOR. She could fake chemistry with a dumbbell, and their Argentine Tango was so, so wonderful. Joshua's carriage was so phenomenal and the ganchos were so skillfully done, that it seemed effortless, which is really the point. There were moves in there that legitimately stunned me (that whip-around move near the end nearly made me fall off my treadmill). And the disco was just so full of joy and skill and fabulousness (aside from fearing for Chelsie's life during that presage lift), it actually made me forget the fact that I believe disco is stupid.
Now, the solos.
My favorite solo of the night? Will. I don't know what I was expecting from him, but I was NOT expecting a flawless James Brown impersonation. Holy SHIT. Absolutely amazing!!!!
My least favorite solo of the night was the "I'm gonna run around and do the 4 Real sign 'cause I'm awesome!" solo that was Comfort's. She's gone, for sure.
Although Mark gets points for dancing to Santogold, and Courtney made me gasp when she went on releve in bare feet (that HURTS!) and Chelsie's legs, again, make me want to saw mine off.
Ahhhh, tomorrow's gonna suck. :(
