She sits at the end of her bed, a million thoughts rushing through her head yet she sits there, blankly staring into nothing, something,… staring deeply, intently into the frozen wall in front of her. Her eyes locked, fixed on one spot, a tiny spec of dirt among a white canvas, and she can almost feel exactly how that spec must feel. Worn… tired… exhausted… alone, so alone, but fighting still as she does against the world everyday, against herself. The battle raging hard within…, harder, stronger, effortlessly on and on… and on. Over, and over again. Continuously, until she breaks.
Shattered into a million pieces before herself… and before the world. A side show on display for everyone to see, but who really sees it? She is the tears, the dirt, the mud… on the bottom of your shoe that you never thought twice about stepping in. Yet even on the bottom of your shoe, she stares onward… forever onward into her future, whatever future she can make for herself.
She worries, scared, tired alone… with her head against a flattened pillow every night, waiting… wondering, when that day will come… when she can stand strong… when she can smile without wanting to cry… when she can laugh without wanting to hide… when she can finally truly say she‘s done… when she can breathe a sigh of relief… that day when she can look into his eyes and know that it’s over… the day… when she feels nothing.
The day when she is empty… out of love.
