Hey guys,
I'm new here and a relatively new Sweeney Todd fan.
To be honest, I hated the show before I saw my college put on an amazing production in the fall. (I hated it because I saw the '82 DVD when I was much younger and it scared me.) Now I've seen the concert version, the film, and I have every English recording I've been able to find. I'm still not too keen on the Original Broadway production. I like Hearn and Lansbury just fine, but something about the production doesn't work for me. Don't hate me for that though.
I loved my college's production that I saw it three times.
Loved the concert...I thought it was excellent...great singing. The movie was visually perfect and excellently cast...except for the singing. It did turn me into a big Helena Bonham Carter fan, even though I'm not keen on her singing. The revival is my favorite recording though. My college still gave the best production of them all, I believe. It kept in all of the humor, heart, and had excellent singing, acting, and a great set and costumes. I'm sure I can't convince you that it was the best, but that's okay.
Anyway, I'm posting here because I plan to write this epic paper for my theatre history class. I've found A String of Pearls, but I would like to read Christopher Bond's play. I was reading here and I saw that someone did a high school production of it...it looked very cool. Does anyone know where I can find a script online or to purchase?
ALSO, I saw this post and I find it very intriguing.
