Oh, dear! I started to post and half way through I relised that I was infact writing a critical essay... comparing Morrissey, Stephen Merritt and Douglas Adams. Even I know that no one wants to read that shit.
I think the gist of the thing was this:
Moz and Merritt are compared alot. They are also mutual fans.
They have a similar lyrical style and both tend to be gloomy. Other than that they are very different.
Moz's work is largly based around his own opinions and emotions. There is a strong autobiographical elaphant.
Merrit creates music with a very deliberate effect. He does not write from the heart. His albums often have a running musical theme (ex 69 which does it on the small scale). Although his lyrical style is concistant, his language is very deliberatly chosen to fit the mood.
This is getting to be a long summery. Maybe I'll just write the damn thing and inflict it on you in a few weeks. I know you all stopped at the 3rd line. You all smell, I read your wanky crap the whole way through. Meatus.
