Elisabeth Sladen has passed away aged 63

Everywhere I look today: twitter, tumblr, Livejournal, Facebook, they're all filled with Elisabeth Sladen and Sarah Jane Smith. At least two very different generations of children grew up watching Sarah Jane either on Doctor Who or on the Sarah Jane Adventures. Those of us who were not born at quite the right time for this to form part of our childhood TV viewing were still introduced to her somehow, whether through repeats or videos or DVDs, or as grown ups watching her in the new series and in SJA.
I was lucky enough to meet Lis Sladen only last summer, less than a year ago in fact. She was a lovely person and I'm so grateful I got the chance. I can't really believe that she's gone such a short time later.
Goodbye, Sarah Jane. The whoniverse will never forget you.
Sarah Jane: Is this the last time I'm ever going to see you?
The Doctor: [Brief pause] I don't know. I hope not.
Sarah Jane: [Smiling] Goodbye, Doctor, until the next time.
The Doctor: Don't forget me, Sarah Jane.
